If you haven't heard of Store Adore yet, you have been missing out! It's a recently launched online community that lets users recommend stores in select metropolitan areas based on their style, price range, etc. Now gals looking for new boutiques to explore finally have an outlet to share and discover! Don't leave near a big city? Not to worry, they also have a section devoted to online shopping. Intrigued by how people come up with such great ideas and curious to know how I could get the most out of this great site, I decided to get some answers right from the source: founders Meredith Barnett and Christina Miller, childhood friends from Washington, DC. Here's what they had to say about Store Adore!
How did you get the idea for Store Adore?
Not surprisingly, we are both shopping addicts…But even more than the actual acquisition of the product, what we really love about shopping is the EXPERIENCE--discovering a new neighborhood on a Saturday afternoon with your girlfriends or stealing away a few hours online browsing a chic e-boutique. There are countless resources out there that focus on the products to buy…but until Store Adore, there was nowhere that focused on the places to go.
Store Adore is an web-based guide to the best boutique shopping around the country and online. Shoppers can search our site according to their desired criteria (neighborhood, product type, etc.) and find the stores that match. They can read our detailed store profiles; make and download custom shopping maps; find exclusive deals and discounts from our featured stores; and even write their own store reviews.
We used to go to new cities, visit new neighborhoods in the cities where we’ve lived, or browse online and think “I KNOW there are great stores around here, but I just don’t know where to find them.” Now with Store Adore, we’ve answered that question for ourselves and for other shoppers just like us.
What are some ways for new users to get involved with the site's community?
- Create a Shopper Profile where you can upload pictures, describe your shopping style, and choose your favorite stores
- Write your own store reviews of our featured stores
- Make and download custom shopping guides
- Message and make friends with other shoppers
- Coming soon: A discussion board, which will allow our shoppers to ask and answer questions that cannot easily be answered in our database, like “Can I wear gogo boots with a mini skirt?” or “Where can you buy cowboy boots in San Francisco?” I’m being a little silly here, but you get the picture.
For those women who do not live in metropolitan areas, is there any way for them to use Store Adore?Absolutely! Of the 2,500+ stores on our site, over 1,100 are e-commerce-enabled, which means that they are either online-only or brick-and-mortar stores with e-shops. Plus over 75 percent of our exclusive discounts also apply online, so you can use Store Adore no matter where you live.
What are some popular shops with users? So many user favorites!
What trends do you see popping up on Store Adore this summer?Green is still a huge trend as mainstream retailers (even ones that aren’t officially “green”) try to embrace the eco-movement. We just printed this
downloadable green guide, which has been a huge hit. Also, this isn’t really a “trend” but we recently launched coverage of The Hamptons, Chicago, and Philadelphia, so we expect to really grow in in those cities.
What summer style are you most looking forward to sporting this summer?Wrapped bracelets (especially leather), return of the waist (belted dresses), exposed zippers (taken from Phillip Lim, but love anywhere), loose flowy pants
What stores have you been introduced to by other users that you like?We recently profiled
Blondette, which came to use through a user, and
Kep Designs is super preppy (we are not) but we really like the affordable bangle bracelets.
